Our Therapist, Jamie Immerfall
Licensed in the State of Wisconsin
Nationally Certified Massage Therapist

Jamie developed an interest in massage when she was seeking alternative therapies for herself after experiencing a debilitating muscle spasm in her neck. Jamie decided that she wanted to help people with similar afflictions, ultimately graduating from the Fox Valley School of Massage in 2006. She obtained her state license that same year.

Jamie furthered her career when she joined Woodhaven in 2007 as a Veterinary Technician. She completed a continuing education course in Small Animal Massage in 2008, allowing her to utilize her massage skills for pets.

Jamie's training, skills, and compassion, along with her ability to teach basic skills to others, will ultimately improve the health and well being of many pets and their families.

Will My Pet Benefit from Massage?

Pets with the following conditions may benefit from massage therapy:

  • Muscle or soft tissue Injury
  • Hip or elbow dysplasia
  • Sprains or strains
  • Arthritis
  • Anxiety

Massage may also be of benefit to pets prior to or after strenuous performance, such as hunting, field trials, agility trials, etc.

Services are available by appointment at Woodhaven Animal Health for your pet. The initial consultation and massage session will include a thorough history and an outline of specific goals. You are invited to learn some basic massage techniques that can be used on your pet at home.

A Word of Caution

Please note that massage should not be considered within the first 24 to 48 hours after an injury. Massage should be avoided for pets with cancer, or for certain heart, liver or urinary diseases. Please contact the clinic if your pet has a recent history of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever or wounds.

While massage will benefit most pets, it will not be performed if a patient does not tolerate the therapy.

Alternative Therapies

At times, we have felt the frustration of a patient that does not respond to the treatments we have prescribed. Sometimes conventional medical therapies are not enough. Through the years, we have reached out to alternative modalities to include chiropractic care, as well as traditional acupuncture and herbal therapies for a few of our patients. These types of treatments should only be administered by a trained and licensed veterinarian.

As such, we are fortunate to have Dr. Patty Glover CVSMT, CVA, providing treatment for dog and cat patients at our clinic! As you will see below, there are many instances when it is appropriate to consider alternative treatment modalities for your pet. Dr. Patty will work with you and your pet to determine the appropriate treatment intervals. If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at (715) 341-9664.
